What we have done to keep the site usable, and where it still falls short.

How it is built

Plain HTML with headings in order, real links and real buttons. There is no framework rendering the page after load, so a slow connection or a blocked script still gives you the full text. The layout reflows down to a narrow phone without a horizontal scrollbar.

Keyboard and screen readers

Everything interactive can be reached with the tab key and there is a skip link at the top of each page. Focus outlines are left visible on purpose. Product images carry descriptive alt text taken from the cleaned product name.

Contrast and text

Body text is dark on cream at a ratio comfortably past the AA threshold. Text scales with the browser setting rather than being pinned to a pixel size, and nothing important is conveyed by colour on its own.

Known gaps

The rating dots are decorative and repeat a number that is also written out, which is duplication for a screen reader. The search panel returns results without announcing the count. Both are on the list.

Off site

Once a link takes you to the retailer, their accessibility standards apply and we have no control over them.
